This is my riff on the wehavethelastword campaign and I call it First Word Morning Edition.
- 1 oz St George Nola coffee liqueur
- 1 oz brandy from Remy Martin
- 1 oz Fernet Blanca
- 1 oz Graham’s tawny port
- 1 egg
- Dry shake everything, strain and pour.
Fernet adds a wonderful bitter and herbacious taste which gives the drink the depth it needs. St George coffee liqueur has been my favorite with its earthy taste and notes of hazelnut. I think it has a higher level of caffeine than the average too– making it the perfect replacement for everyday coffee. I was worried it might be too bitter even though I don’t have sweet tooth, but the port and whole egg made the difference.
